East Parkland offers Economic Development services to its municipalities and businesses including grant identification, front-line assistance and program facilitation.
PROJECT INVOLVEMENT
Highway 21 Community Initiatives Program
Community Futures East Parkland has been a major partner of the Highway 21 Community Initiatives Society and its major tourism initiatives, the BoomTown Trail. Community Futures East Parkland and Wild Rose EDC initially obtained funding for the project with an additional $15,000 obtained through the Rural Secretariat. In addition, East Parkland took on a major role in the front line development and operation of the BoomTown Trail. The society currently represents tourism operators and community stakeholders in 33 municipalities; 29 of those rural.
Community Economic Development Accreditation Process (CEDAP) Initiative
East Parkland has successfully applied for funding to subsidize community economic development training. 9 CEDAP Basic Training Sessions have been held to date. Strategic Planning and Advanced Economic Development Training Sessions have also been coordinated by East Parkland in addition to the Basic Training. The training was developed by the Economic Developers of Alberta, with much praise from participants; our hope is that this training will provide the tools and resources to interested communities needed to support their community economic development goals and growth.
