Community Futures East Parkland  is a not-for-profit organization that aims to sustain our communities and assist their growth by identifying and promoting their advantages, providing information, education, business counseling, and by providing financial assistance as an alternative lender. Our programs are used to help diversify the economic base of the region, to support new and existing business, and to assist community cooperation.

Our Key Initiatives consist of action plans for continued economic development with in the East Parkland territory, continued lending and self-employment resources and counseling, identification and implementation of new projects and building public awareness of community economic development and self-employment services.

Board of Directors Policy

The primary qualification for membership on the Community Futures East Parkland Board of Directors is the individual must reside in the region and have a commitment to the welfare of the communities within the region.  The Board of Directors reflect a variety of expertise in community and business development with representation from all of the geographic regions in the territory.  Any elected officials who sit on the Board do so as volunteers rather than municipal appointees.  When new members are needed, local governments and economic development committees are notified, advertisement may be placed in local papers, a selection committee of existing Board Memebers interviews appropriate candidates and the Board ratiifies the final selection.

Board Members are encouraged to advocate the importance of Community Futures East Parkland whenever the opportunity arises, and to suggest potential projects for its involvement.  They are also encouraged to participatein speaking engagements, trade shows and community meetings.  Board Members' term of office lasts 3 years and Board Member can serve up to 3 terms.
